WELCOME!

      Devon Berry, Principal

Welcome to Ruskin Pre K-8 School, home of the Rams! Our entire staff is very excited about the birth of a new partnership and the continuance of successful practices and traditions. We have a beautiful, new, facility prepared to serve the emerging academic and social needs of our community. The Ruskin staff is committed and prepared to utilize all community resources to meet the needs of every student. We are looking forward to meeting and working with each of you as we move toward a common goal of academic excellence and effective citizenry.

In order to maximize efforts to better serve the community, a unique partnership among Dayton Public Schools, East End Community Services (East End) and the University of Dayton was formed. The result is the Ruskin Pre K – 8 Neighborhood School. Ruskin is a site-based managed school that has a strong emphasis on sharing facilities and resources with the community. In addition, as a neighborhood school center, East End will provide additional services for families and after school services for students.

Our mission at Ruskin PreK-8 School is to provide a positive child-centered learning environment where every child can succeed. Students will become lifelong learners through an emphasis on the mastery of basic skills and a challenge to achieve academic excellence in the areas of reading, mathematics, oral and written communication, science and social studies. Fine arts, physical education and computer technology support and enhance academic and creative expression. In addition Ruskin implements innovative curricula through the use of research-based models to promote instruction that meets the needs of each student.

We are truly anticipating an exciting and productive school year and want you to be an important component of the Ruskin community partnership. I encourage you to volunteer throughout the year. Your support is greatly needed and appreciated. Thank you for bringing us your children and permitting us to be a part of their lives.
