Cabin Fever Breaks with the 3rd Annual Dayton Public Schools 5K
Spring brings a lot of rain and bursts of outdoor athletic events. Dayton Public Schools is following in line with activity as we prepare for our annual Wellness 5K this year, Saturday, April 28th.
Not only is this a healthy way to start your personal spring training, but this walk/run fundraiser will enhance the music departments of our school buildings.
DPS has worked hard to re-establish and expand its instrumental and choral programs and this year, that includes drum lines for our bands.
Our educators know that music study enhances confidence, competence and creativity. More specifically, it means students' self discipline, coordination, thinking and listening skills improve when they are involved in learning music. But keeping instruments in good performance condition can cost up to $100,000 annually. And the purchase of new instruments drives up that cost even more.
Join us Saturday, April 28th when we welcome everyone to Welcome Stadium, 1601 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd., 45417. The Kids' Run starts at 8:30 am, followed at 9 am by the official 5K that can be run or walked.

By the way, we are issuing a special challenge to DPS alums. Let's create some 5K competition among the graduating classes!
