Whether it’s a test using good old fashioned paper and pencil, or good investigative problem solving using STEM, numbers in all forms will examined at the Dayton Public Schools Math Olympics, Saturday, March 10th at Belmont High School from 8 am to 1 pm.
The annual event hosts students in grades 4 through 8 which includes all DPS elementary and middle schools, and the middle school grades at Stivers School for the Arts, Belmont and Meadowdale High School buildings.
Three featured competitions include: Battle of the Brains (grades 4, 5 and 6), the brain wrenching Team Work Collaboration, and Design Challenge Innovative.
All students will participate in the Team Work Collaboration, students in seventh and eighth grades only will compete in the STEM based Design Challenge.
Parents will have an opportunity to get involved as well. The Parent Resource Training Session gives parents an extensive amount of information around Ohio’s New Learning Standards and the new Ohio State Assessments.
Opening ceremony for this free, public event begins at 8:45 a.m. with an Olympics-style parade of the competitors.
