Stivers celebrates V-J Day with local veterans

WHO:      Stivers Veterans History Project and the American Veterans Heritage Center (Dayton VA)

WHAT:     V-J Day celebration

WHEN:      9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
                  Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010

WHERE:    Stivers School for the Arts
                  1313 E. Fifth St.

INFO:        Stivers is celebrating the 65th anniversary of V-J Day by inviting area WWII veterans to participate in a special program. Festivities include music by the Stivers Jazz Band, a brief student-created movie about WWII and the events leading to V-J Day, students reading excerpts of interviews with WWII veterans and individual recognition of each participating
veteran (a few of which are Stivers graduates).

More than 50 veterans are scheduled to participate, and will sign autographs for students in the cafeteria following the program. For more information, contact Bridget Federspiel at 542-7380.
