Parent involvement program returns
Title I sponsored program features timely topics, studio audience

“Parent Connection,” which debuted last year with monthly local and national experts and a live studio audience, will offer families twice the information during the 2010-2011 school year with two programs each month. The hour-long program features timely discussion about education and parenting on DPS TV (Time Warner Cable Channel 21).

“Parent Connection” airs Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (see below for topics and dates), with repeats on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Viewers also may catch the show at their convenience, via DPS TV on-demand video, available through a link at the bottom of the district website (www.dps.k12.oh.us).

According to Charlie Graham, DPS executive director of school improvement and external resources, the programs are designed for parents who often find it difficult to attend information meetings while juggling busy, demanding schedules.

Coming up, “Parent Connection” will explore starting the year healthy and safe, with Jessica Saunders, community relations manager, Children’s Medical Center. Parents are encouraged to call with questions during the show, which airs live at 6 p.m. Sept. 9.
