• It’s S’cool at Eastmont
Eastmont Park PK-8 School, 1480 Edendale Road, will host a S’Cool Moves for Learning Family Night at 6 p.m. on Jan. 29. S’cool Moves is a movement program that helps students improve academic performance, attention and behavior by use of balance and self-awareness skills. The evening will consist of S’Cool Moves activities, pizza and snacks, and a display of school science fair projects. Contact Ann Gottschlich at 542-4503 for more information.
• Read-in at WOW
World of Wonder School, 2826 Campus Drive, will participate in the National African America Read-In, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 2. Community members will read to students as a kick off to Black History Month, with books written by African American authors or depicting African American characters. Contact Principal Cleaster Jackson at 542-3600 for more information.
• Zoom, zoom, Zumba!
Cleveland PK-8 School will host a weekly Zumba class, open to adults, on Thursdays, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, 1102 S. Pursell Ave. The cost is $2 per class; YMCA members are free. Contact Kym Beasley, Cleveland neighborhood site coordinator, at 474-2091 for more information.
• Marshall hosts parents
Thurgood Marshall High School recently held its first Science Fair Parent Night, allowing parents of students who submitted science fair projects to view their children’s work. Those projects identified as exemplary were recognized with awards, and attendees enjoyed dinner.
