Community Involvement

Mental Health Partnerships

PSC Mental Health Partnerships and collaboration efforts kicked off in 2009. The main purpose is to integrate community mental health and school-wide Positive School Climate supports in DPS schools. The initiative currently has active membership and collaboration with the following: Community Mental Health Partners: South Community, Day-Mont Behavioral Health, Samaritan Behavioral Health and Juvenile Court Justice.

Mental health partners mainly provide tertiary comprehensive services to DPS students and families by licensed therapists. Our community partners are provided with a work space within ours schools, giving them an easy access to serve students as needed.

Services provided by our mental health partners include individual and group counseling, case management, crisis intervention, and case consultation with educational staff. More information regarding DPS Mental Health Partnership can be accessed by clicking the links below.

Parent Involvement

DPS families participate in PSC within all aspects of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention service delivery levels. Family members are part of district and building level PSC planning teams. In addition, families learn strategies on how to teach their children the school-wide expectations at home and in the community. Family orientation activities and school celebrations highlight school-wide PSC initiatives in schools and present opportunities on how parents can volunteer and/or donate free resources to sustain PSC initiatives.
