DPS tracks and fields now open for team, community use

Alexandra KincaidNews

The district is excited to announce that all turf fields have been renovated and are ready for DPS teams to use. All tracks have also been replaced, and all but two are now open to the public.

With these renovations, all tracks and fields are now up to the high-quality standards that students deserve. Fields have new sod, have been striped, and have functioning irrigation systems so they will be properly maintained going forward. All tracks have been completely replaced.

The tracks are in the process of being striped, but are open for community members to use now, with the exception of Thurgood and Dunbar. Thurgood’s track will be completed on August 17th, and Dunbar’s track will be completed on August 22nd. After those dates, all tracks will be open to the community.

Please review the following rules to help the district maintain the upgraded tracks and fields:

  • Game fields at high schools are only to be used by DPS football and soccer teams. No vehicles of any kind are permitted on the fields, and no equipment of any kind should be left on the fields.
  • Community members are welcome to walk on DPS tracks from dawn to dusk whenever they are not in use by DPS teams. No bikes, strollers, wagons, or equipment of any kind are permitted on the tracks.

Please watch DPS social media for updates about the tracks at Thurgood and Dunbar. Posts will be made to announce when they are completed and open to the public. The district would like to thank the community for the support as this project was completed over the last year.
