Staff will receive first COVID-19 vaccine next week.

Dayton Public Schools students will return for full-time face-to-face instruction in March after all DPS employees who wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccine have had their second dose.

A specific return date will be shared once the vaccine distribution is confirmed. DPS employees are expected to receive the first vaccine Thursday, February 4 and Friday, February 5 through Kroger.

The intent is for students to return to in-person instruction Monday-Friday with COVID-19 preventative measures in place. Students who do not wish to return will have the option to continue remote instruction using a self-paced learning software.

Students who remain remote will no longer work with their DPS teachers because all teachers will be working with in-person students. However, remote students will have access to an online coach to provide assistance on a weekly basis.

A form is now available at DaytonPublic.com for parents to select either in-person or remote instruction for their student(s).

Preventative measures for in-person instruction will include mandatory mask-wearing, socially-distanced classrooms, plexiglass barriers to separate students or staff members where appropriate, no shared supplies and frequent cleaning and sanitation of classrooms, bathrooms, and cafeterias, among other things.
