SROs assemble ‘Ready Packs’ containing supplies for all DPS students

Students in the Dayton Public Schools will spend the first nine weeks of the school year learning from home. To ensure all students have the supplies they need, each student will receive a “ready pack” containing a notebook, a pack of pencils, crayons or colored pencils and a dry erase board and marker. These items will be used during virtual classroom lessons and to complete homework assignments.

Security Resource Officers (SROs) assembled student ready packs for each elementary, middle and high school in mid-August. In addition to supplies, packs contain a virtual learning preparation checklist for parents, a student meal pass and information about the importance of attending and participating in virtual classes.

Students will also receive a Chromebook loaded with classroom software that will allow them to continue using programs that build reading, math and other important skills while learning from home. Households without reliable, high-speed internet access can request a WiFi hotspot by calling the DPS Information Technology Department between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 937-542-3184.
