PSC Implementation


PSC implementation is an ongoing process which usually requires a commitment of 3 – 5 years. The implementation involves undergoing through the phases of Preparation, Initiation, Implementation and Maintenance. The following chart illustrates phases of PSC implementation process.

Phase I:  Preparation - Year 1 (1st & 2nd Quarter)

  •     Establish commitment
  •     Establish and maintain a team
  •     Self-assessment and planning
  •     Establish school-wide expectations

Phase II: Initiation - Year 1 (3rd & 4th Quarter)

  •     Establish ongoing system for rewarding behavioral expectations
  •     Establish a system for responding to behavioral violations
  •     Establish information system for collecting student data
  •     Establish criteria for Tier 2 & 3 supports
  •     Self-assessment and action planning
  •     Establish 3-5 school-wide expectations

Phase III: Implementation - Year 2-3

  •     Data review and strengthen Phase I and II steps through data review
  •     Establish targeted and intensive intervention strategies
  •     Establish targeted and intensive intervention supports
  •     Collect data on Tier 2 and 3 interventions
  •     Evaluate Tier 2 and 3 interventions
  •     Self-assessment and action planning

Phase IV: Maintenance - Years 4-5

  •     Data review and strengthen Phases I-III steps
  •     Establish links of rewarding behavior expectations with community
  •     Parent involvement
  •     Self-assessment and action planning
  •     Ongoing consultation
