Athletic Field Renovations

The Dayton Public Schools continue to upgrade and update the facilities and grounds for each of our buildings. A very significant project this year is to update our athletic fields and practice areas. In an effort to get this work done, community activities, as well as DPS activities on these fields and tracks, will need to be stopped while work is being done.

Beginning October 4, 2021, community members will be unable to use football fields and tracks at all DPS high schools while improvements are made to the turf grass in an effort to provide a better sports turf for athletes.

No one will be permitted to enter the areas while repairs are underway to ensure the fields are able to recuperate for fall sports.

This process will take several weeks to complete depending on weather, with an anticipated end date of December 1, 2021. Once completed, tracks will once again be open for community use. Fields will remain closed until the fall football season of 2022.

Repairs will take place at the following schools: Belmont High School, David H. Ponitz CTC, Dunbar High School, Meadowdale CTC, and Thurgood Marshall STEM High School.  We apologize for any inconvenience, but this closure is necessary to make sure we have the very best facilities for our students.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth J. Lolli, Ph.D.

Superintendent
