New hires will be required to complete a background check (FBI/BCI). Background checks are $47.25 and must be paid using a money order. Current employees will need a new background check every 5 years and have the option for a payroll deduction between September 1st and May 1st. The background check fee has been waived for volunteers (Please note: this does not apply to athletic coaches).

Dayton Public Schools has partnered with ESS to manage the on-call substitute program. ESS is responsible for the hiring, training, and placement of all daily substitutes in the following positions: teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, food service workers, and clerical.
