DPS Summer Camps & Programs for Students
Programs for Summer 2023 will be available closer to the end of the school year.
There are many summer programs available to DPS students. Programs focus on enhancing math and literacy skills while providing fun enrichment activities. Several camps also provide regular field trips. Learn more about each program below!

Through East End Community Services, Miracle Makers Summer Program: Space Camp, will be offered at Ruskin Elementary (K-6) and Wright Brothers Middle School (7-8). Students will learn and have fun through enrichment activities and weekly field trips, while focusing on improving literacy and math skills. DPS students from any school can enroll and attend.

Summer LIT Equity Camp (Leaders in Training)
Location: Roosevelt Elementary*
Dates: June 6th -July 1st
Times: 8:30 a.m. -1 p.m., Monday-Friday
The DPS Leaders in Training (LIT) Equity Camp opportunity is by invitation only to rising third grade students. Selection is determined by test scores and student potential. The camp will focus on literacy, mathematics, STEM and culturally relevant instructional practices. Camp Invention will also be incorporated into this program.
*Students will be eligible for transportation.

Students will have opportunities to work one-on-one, think pair share, have clear learning goals, question for understanding and plenty of practice including feedback. On two Thursdays students will participate in off site field trips.

Location: Dayton Challenger Learning Center
Cost: $75 for DPS students, $150 for out of District
Grades: 5-8
Dates/Time: July 18 - 22. 9AM - 4PM
Explore the world of Cybersecurity through the AFA's CyberCamp program. During this camp, you will also learn C++ coding, work with LEGO robotics, and 3D print designs in this week-long program. Participants must bring their own lunches.

The Dakota Center also has an afterschool program for K-8 students from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. The program provides homework assistance, tutoring, and extra help with reading and math. To learn more, please email administrator@dakotacenter.org.

Camp Kroc is a ministry of the Dayton Kroc Center. At the heart of the Camp Kroc philosophy is a focus on building authentic relationships with caring adults and other children.
Registration fee: $20 per child. Scholarships and payment plans are available.

The Kroc Center also runs an after-school program for K-8 students. The SK2 After School Program runs Monday-Friday, 2:30 p.m.-5 p.m. There are two sessions per year. One in September-November and one in January-May. Registration for the Fall Session begins August 1st.

The Dayton Men’s Basketball team will be hosting summer camps once again this summer. Please email coachanthonygrant@gmail.com or visit DaytonFlyers.com/MBBCamps for more information. Camps are offered for boys of various ages, depending on the camp. The Dayton Basketball Camp is meant to teach the fundamentals of the game and encourage a love and appreciation for basketball and good sportsmanship.
St. Margaret's Episcopal Church is holding a Summer Arts Camp for students in grades 4-8. This camp will be on July 18-22, 2022.

SAC is a week-long multi-cultural arts program summer program for children's grades four through eight from diverse cultures and faiths, offering music, dance, drama, photography, creative writing, clay, tie-dye, videography, visual arts and peace workshop.
Children are recruited from all parts of town, all walks of life, and unified by their experiences of the arts throughout the week. Each session, they all work together to create a “Unity Piece,” one communal work of art which was then displayed in the community.
The Dayton Metro Library is providing a Summer Edition of their Homework Help program. Students in grades K-12 can continue learning over the summer through hands-on STEM activities, art, music, architecture experiences, and reading coaching.
The summer program will take place Monday-Thursday from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Northwest Branch Library (2410 Philadelphia Dr.), and on Thursdays from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the West Branch Library (300 Abbey Ave.). For more information, please call 937-496-8599.

The Central State Men's Basketball Elite Camp exists to give high school and prep boys basketball players a glimpse into the life of a Central State men's basketball student-athlete, provide exposure and provide skill instruction workouts at the collegiate level.

Mini Marauder Youth Basketball Camp
A basketball camp provided by Central State staff, volunteers, and players to teach basketball fundamentals for boys and girls. Campers will have fun learning about basketball while playing games, learning drills, and observing demonstrations by college players and staff. Campers will receive camp shirts and prizes.

Team Camp shootout hosted by the Central State University men's basketball program. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three games, a team meal, and camp gear.

Dates: Three-week camp from July 26-August 11. In partnership with the Dunbar 150th project and The Human Race Theatre Company, we will present the play "The Spelling Bee," will all camp scholars cast, on August 12, at The Loft Theater.

Theatre MADE will focus on giving your child the fundamentals to
- develop their acting and musical theater skills
- express their creativity through performance
- develop their confidence in communication and problem-solving
- develop focus and persistence
- engage in teamwork that leads to meeting and making new friends
Working with local theater practitioners, your child will learn about the life of Paul Laurence Dunbar by visiting and exploring his home, help adapt Dunbar’s poem “The Spellin’ Bee” into a one-act play and perform the play on stage before a community audience. Registration also includes a ticket to see “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Schuster on August 2. At the end of camp, we will gift our camp scholars with school supplies to help them transition back to the 2022-23 school year. And we’ll celebrate their accomplishments and goals with a “Back to School” party.

Compudopt is working with Dayton Metro Library - West Branch to host a free summer camp for students in grades 3rd - 5th. Students who attend this program with an 80% or more attendance will receive a free laptop – no strings attached! Dayton Metro Library - West Branch will also provide a free lunch to students who attend the program.
In this program, students will be taken on a space adventure! We will be working with augmented reality, coding, and circuits in order to help find our way back home.

High School APEX Credit Recovery Summer School
Off-track for graduation? APEX Credit Recovery Summer School is a computer-based program designed to provide credit for a course you previously failed. A certified teacher will support you as you work through a self-paced, individualized program to monitor your progress.
