DPS students return to the classroom March 1, 2021

WHO: Dayton Public Schools and Dayton Police Department
WHAT: Media briefing on school zone, pedestrian and bus safety
WHEN:  Tuesday, February 23, 2021, 11 a.m.
WHERE: Dunbar High School (parking lot), 1400 Albritton Dr., Dayton, OH 45417

INFO:

The majority of DPS students will return to the classroom for full-time, in-person instruction beginning March 1, 2021. Schools initially went remote due to COVID-19 in March 2020, meaning this is the first time students will be back in the classroom 5 days a week in nearly a full year.

When students return, the morning and afternoon commutes for those in Dayton will be busier than usual, as more buses, cars and pedestrians will be on the streets. The Dayton Police Department and Dayton Public Schools invite media to attend a short briefing on school zone, pedestrian and bus safety to help encourage the community to be more alert and cautious as students return to the classroom.

DPS and DPD will give remarks and then take questions from reporters.

Media only are invited to attend in-person due to space limitations. This event will also be streamed live on the District’s Facebook page for the public.

*In the event of inclement weather, the event may be rescheduled or moved indoors at Dunbar. A tentative rain/snow date is scheduled for 2/26 at 11 a.m. Media will be informed of any changes via email. At this time, it appears that weather will not be a concern and the event can move forward as planned.
