Hidden Hero Spotlight | Sherida Wynn

Alexandra KincaidNews

This week we are spotlighting Sherida Wynn, Case Manager and Parent Liaison for the Office for Exceptional Children!

Sherida has been with the Office for Exceptional Children for 2 years but has been with the district for more than 20 years total. Her day-to-day duties include communicating and working with building staff members and other school districts, processing student placements for OEC, processing home instruction requests and serving as the liaison for parents and the OEC, among other things.

She said the best part about her job is being able to assist and encourage parents of students served by the OEC. Although COVID-19 has changed the way the department operates because students are not in-person, Sherida said it has also increased the opportunities she has to communicate with parents as they navigate the virtual learning process.

Her nominator said she has taken on extra duties without complaint since students went virtual, and that she continues to work hard and makes sure everything she does is always correct and working toward the greater good of students. “She is an incredibly valuable asset to the OEC,” the nominator said.

Sherida said she encourages her fellow employees to continue to work together toward the common goal of setting students up for success, even with the many changes and challenges the district has faced because of the pandemic.

Thank you for all you do to help DPS students succeed!
