DBOE and superintendent gather community leaders for open dialogue

The Dayton Board of Education and Superintendent Rhonda Corr are bringing together educators and local and state officials to exchange ideas about the current state of public education. A legislative breakfast will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Dayton Public Schools Community Room, 115 S. Ludlow St.
Board President Robert Walker will make opening remarks, followed by an academic overview of Dayton Public Schools presented by DPS Superintendent Rhonda Corr. Ohio State Sen. Peggy Lehner is among the distinguished speakers to follow. She will address the implications of Ohio Senate Bill 3, which includes the administration of state assessments. Ohio State Sen. Bill Beagle will present “The Governor’s Executive Workforce Board’s Recommendations Regarding Workforce Development and Public Education.” Ohio State representatives, Fred Strahorn and Michael Henne, are also scheduled to attend.
The breakfast is an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and discuss a variety of topics, such as recruitment of high-quality teachers, parent and community involvement, and academic initiatives. For more information, contact Cherisse Kidd in the Office of the Board of Education, at (937) 542-3080.
