Arts community celebrates auditorium restoration
Stivers’ Jack W. and Sally Eichelberger Hall celebrated Oct. 3

The region’s brightest artists and performers will join the community at Stivers School for the Arts, 1313 E. Fifth St., to celebrate the restoration of the Jack W. and Sally Eichelberger Hall, constructed just over a century ago and restored this year to its Victorian character. The Oct. 3 grand opening begins with a 6 p.m. pre-performance reception at the Liederkranz-Turner Hall, 1400 E. Fifth Street, across from the school, followed by an 8 p.m. performance in the newly renovated auditorium.

The 75-minute program will be directed by Arron Vega, once of the Human Race and Zoot Theatre Company, now working as freelance director out of New York City. Stivers students will perform with local artists, including members of The Dayton Opera, The Human Race Theatre Company, The Dayton Ballet, The Zoot Theatre Company, Dayton Jazz singer Saundra Rutledge, DCDC, and The Elements including Rick and Sharon Good and Michael and Sandy Bashaw. Michael Lippert of the Human Race will serve as emcee.

The special evening will raise funds to support Stivers students and programs and introduce the community to its newest reclaimed gem.

Patron tickets for the pre-performance reception and performance are $100. Tickets for the performance only are $40, $30 and $20 and can be purchased by phone at (937) 212-2044 or online at www.theseedlings.org.

NOTE: Members of the media can arrange for preview tours of the newly restored auditorium the week of Sept. 28. Contact Bill Pflaum at  wdpflaum@ix.netcom.com.
