Did you know? When Dayton has severe weather that could impact students getting to school, staff members monitor weather forecasts, drive main roads and side streets, and check parking lots in the early morning hours. Around 4:30 a.m., a team of district officials discusses whether schools should be delayed or closed based on road conditions, weather forecasts, wind chill, and many other factors. When conditions are uncertain, the team may need to reconvene at a later time. A decision about delaying or closing school is made no later than 5:30 a.m. whenever possible.
