The Dayton Board of Education approved the academic calendar for the 2015-2016 school year at Tuesday’s meeting. Students will attend school from Aug. 13, 2015, through May 25, 2016.

The new calendar includes three days (Aug. 10-11 and Sept. 23) and three early dismissal dates (in November, January, and February) for staff training, as well as dates for parent-teacher conferences and academic testing.

Make-up days also are designated in the new calendar, should the district exceed it’s five calamity days allowed by the state. They are May 26, 27, and 31, and June 1 and 2, 2016.

The board also approved a working draft of a 2016-2017 school calendar, which may be subject to some adjustments. Early adoption of calendars for the next two school years is intended to give parents and staff the opportunity to plan around not just one, but two academic years.

The 2015-2016 calendar can be found on the district’s website.
