For Immediate Release

The Dayton Board of Education will vote next month on recommendations from Superintendent Rhonda Corr to reduce the number of administrative positions following a 10-year trend of decreased student enrollment. Reduction of administrative and school-based staff has not been addressed in accordance with the continued enrollment decrease, resulting in a district that is overstaffed with central office administrative and school-based staff. District leaders are working strategically to right-size the district’s central office and avoid any impact on direct services to students. No details are available at this time regarding the reductions.
“We are considering all practical options to right-size our central office before looking at our classrooms. As we work toward greater operational efficiency, we must not lose our focus on staying the course to achieve higher student outcomes,” Dayton Board of  Education President Adil Baguirov said.
The board authorized the superintendent to move forward with an administrative reduction in force at the Oct. 26 meeting and will vote on the superintendent’s recommendations at the Nov. 17 business meeting.
