     On April 13, 2016, the Dayton City School District Board of Education announced that they will begin their search for a new Superintendent for the 2016-2017 academic year after agreement was not met on new contract terms with Superintendent Lori Ward.
     “It has been an honor and privilege to serve the students, staff, and families of Dayton Public Schools for 21 years, the last six years as Superintendent,” stated Ward.
     The Board commends the Superintendent on her dedication and professionalism during her tenure as Superintendent of Dayton Public Schools. Throughout her years of service, her accomplishments have included the following:

–    Opening Rosa Parks Early Learning Center dedicated to the district’s youngest learners;
–    Strengthening parent engagement and increasing community partnerships through creation of an Office of Family and Community Engagement;
–    Developing the district’s credit recovery program for high school students to help ensure on-time graduation;
–    Increasing graduation rate from 59.6% in FY10 to 72% in FY14; and
–    Creating the Office for Males of Color Achievement.

     “The Board is deeply grateful to Ms. Ward for her service to the children of Dayton Public Schools,” said Board President Adil Baguirov, Ph.D. “On behalf of all seven Board members, we wish her only the best in her future professional endeavors.”
