The Dayton Public School District is excited to announce a series of community meetings to engage parents, students, staff, and the broader community in the search for the next superintendent. 

This effort seeks to gather valuable input on the qualities and attributes the community wishes to see in the district’s next leader. Alma Advisory Group will be leading the superintendent search and is committed to ensuring the selection process is comprehensive, equitable, transparent, and reflective of the diverse perspectives that make up the Dayton Public Schools community. 

Community meetings will be held on the following dates:

Monday, November 6, 2023
5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
In-person meeting to be held at River’s Edge Montessori (108 Linwood St. Dayton, OH 45405)

Wednesday, November 15, 2023
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Virtual community meeting to be held via Zoom. A meeting link will be shared closer to the meeting date on the district’s social media and website. 

These meetings will allow the community to voice their aspirations and expectations of the next superintendent. The input gathered in these meetings will play a pivotal role in the selection process. In addition, focus groups with staff will be held on November 6th and November 7th. 

“The selection of the superintendent is a critical decision for our district,” said Board President Dr. Chrisondra Goodwine. “We believe that involving our families, students, staff, and our DPS community is essential to making the best decision for our district’s future. We want to ensure that the Dayton Public Schools Superintendent embodies the values, vision, and priorities of the Dayton Public School District and Dayton community.”

In addition, a survey will be available soon to allow parents, students, staff and community members to express their thoughts and opinions on the superintendent search process. This survey will be distributed on the district’s social media and website. The survey will close on November 27th. 

The search process will run through March/April of next year, with the goal of the selected superintendent starting on July 1, 2024.
