2017 meeting calendar set

At the Jan. 10, 2017, organizational meeting, the Dayton Board of Education elected Robert Walker, D. Min., president and Hazel Rountree, Ph.D., J.D., vice president for the 2017 calendar year. They join returning board members John McManus, Adil Baguirov, Ph.D.,  Sheila Taylor, Joseph Lacey, and Ronald Lee.
Board President Walker was elected to serve in 2011. His dedication and service to the district and the community is unwavering, having served as president twice before during the 2014 and 2015 calendar years.
“It is an honor and a privilege to serve on this board, to serve you and the families of this district. I am committing myself to better the district’s improvement plan with fidelity,” said Walker.
Board Vice President Rountree is serving the final year of her four-year term, having been elected in 2013. She is a two-time recipient of the Ohio School Boards Association’s Award of Achievement for her exemplary work with board development and training.
“Effective leadership is essential. Students come first. Student achievement is this board’s first priority,” said Rountree.
In other business, the board established meeting dates for the 2017 calendar year. Business meetings, strategic planning meetings, finance and policy committees, and review sessions will be held monthly on the days and dates indicated.
