Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Lolli has been named the Interim Superintendent of Lakota Local Schools and will begin her new role there on July 19th.

“It has been a great honor to serve the students and families in DPS,” Dr. Lolli said. “I appreciate the hard work by the staff and community to help Dayton become better over the past six years. I wish the district well.”

Dr. Lolli played an integral role in improving the district’s academic performance, raising the state report card grade in 2019 and again after the pandemic caused scores to decline. She implemented an innovative double-teaching model for 1st-3rd grade, improved the district’s music education, nearly doubled the number of Career-Technical Pathways, improved mental health resources for students, and much more.

Board of Education President Dr. Chrisondra Goodwine formally thanked Dr. Lolli for her six years of service to the district in an all-staff email on Thursday.

“Dr. Lolli was a great leader for our students and staff, most recently being named the 2023 Ohio Superintendent of the Year,” she said. “We wish her well in all future endeavors.”

The Dayton Public School District plans to discuss the process for hiring an interim Superintendent at the July 11th Board of Education Review Session. The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at Belmont High School, and will also be live-streamed on the district’s YouTube Channel.

The Board of Education intends to hire the best person to lead the district into the 2023-2024 school year. The public is invited to follow along as the process is determined and details are finalized.
