This week we are spotlighting Serita Brake, Coordinator for the Office of Teaching and Learning!

Serita has been with the district for 25 years and has been in her current position since 2010. In this role, she supports the Chiefs of Schools and ensures schools and principals have what they need for all day-to-day operations. She also provides support to secretaries and communicates with parents.

She said the best part about her job is helping others and making sure schools are doing what is best for students.

“I sleep, breathe and walk Dayton Public Schools,” Serita said. “I always want the best for DPS students and families. I am a proud graduate of DPS. I worked as a co-op student for two years and became a full-time employee the day after I graduated from DPS.”

She said she is excited to have students back in school because she enjoys face-to-face interactions with the students and parents DPS serves.
