For Immediate Release

Dayton Board of Education member, Hazel Rountree, Ph.D., J.D., earned a second Award of Achievement from the Ohio School Boards Association in only her third year of service to the district. She will be honored at the annual Southwest Region Spring Conference on March 8 in Cincinnati.

Rountree, elected to the Dayton Board of Education in 2013, currently sits on the Athletic Board of Control, the OSBA Board of Trustees, and OSBA’s Southwest Ohio Region Council, Student Achievement Leadership Team, as well as the Urban School District Advisory Network, which she chairs.

There are more than 3,400 board members in Ohio, but only 51 will receive the Award of Achievement at the spring conference this year. OSBA bestows the award to board members across Ohio who dedicate their service to the betterment of their districts and the association.

The OSBA will also honor board member Ronald Lee at the spring conference for his 10 years of service. Lee was appointed to the DBOE in 2007. He currently sits on the district’s Accountability Panel and Finance Committee and chairs the Transformational Leadership Team. He is the OSBA legislative liaison chair.

His colleague, board member Joe Lacey, was recognized last year for his 10 years of service. He was elected to the board in 2005 and is currently board parliamentarian, finance committee chair, and member of the superintendent/treasurer’s evaluation committee.
