Stivers students let their voices be heard

catapultNews

Two students from Stivers School for the Arts are winners of the VFW “Voice of Democracy” competition. Maria Arias took the top prize locally and participated in the state competition. Her classmate, Shawn Gardner, was runner-up. They competed by writing and recording an audio essay with a patriotic theme. This year’s theme was “My Vision for America.” The VFW established the “Voice of Democracy” program in 1947 to provide high school students the opportunity to express themselves.
