–    Stivers philharmonic orchestra earns superior rating
The Stivers School for the Arts philharmonic orchestra earned a superior rating at the Ohio Music Association State Orchestra Adjudicated Event in late February. The philharmonic performed as a full symphonic orchestra in Class A, the most difficult level of competition. The superior rating was a unanimous judgment and is the highest achievement an orchestra can earn in the State of Ohio. The orchestra performs under the direction of Orchestra Magnet Director Lois Clark Ramey. For more information, contact Lois Ramey at 542-7426.

–    Classroom programs spread healthy message at Edison PreK-6
Four classrooms at Edison PreK-6 School, 228 N. Broadway St., are taking part in the UNICEF KidPower program. Teacher Rachel Blanks’ “The Blanks’ Team” is among them, working to complete special missions in which the students record their progress. Their accomplishments will then help provide food to malnourished children around the world. Blanks’ classroom is also the recipient of a Target Field Trip Grant from which the children will take a field trip to Whole Foods in April to learn about healthy foods and recipes.
