DPS is spotlighting Edwin Joel Brown Middle School teacher Clara Jones!

Ms. Jones is an 8th grade math teacher in her first year at DPS. She said beginning the year in a virtual environment had its challenges because she had to learn to adapt lessons and strategies to fit a virtual setting. Building relationships with students through a computer also had its challenges, but she put forth extra effort to reach out to students and families to get to know them better.

Now that students are back, she is enjoying the in-person interaction and being able to assist them with their work. She said the best part about her job is seeing a student’s face light up when he or she finally understands a math problem.

Her nominator said she goes above and beyond the call of duty because she is constantly looking for new resources to help students, shares resources with her fellow math teachers, works with students one-on-one whenever possible and does everything she can to ensure their success.
