This week we are spotlighting Wright Brothers Middle School Security Resource Officer Tina Porter!
Ms. Porter has been with the district for 18 years. Her day-to-day duties include assisting faculty, mentoring students, encouraging a safe and healthy environment for students and staff, maintaining high visibility and when applicable, responding to emergencies.
“The most gratifying aspect of my job is helping our young people to overcome and achieve goals they otherwise thought impossible, whether while still in school or post-graduation,” she said.
She said the challenges of this school year have provided her with a more in-depth awareness of the needs of students. Earlier this year, she visited homes to deliver hotspots, Chromebooks, and lunches. This experience led her to have a deeper appreciation for the students and families DPS serves and prompted her to spend more time mentoring students.
