Saturday recruitment fair focuses on current, future teaching positions

Dayton Public Schools asks, “Why just teach, when you can transform?”

District principals and HR personnel will meet with teaching candidates and veteran educators who are interested in current and future positions at a special DPS PreK-12 Teacher Recruitment Fair, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14,  in the DPS Community Room, 115 S. Ludlow St. at Fifth Street. Parking is free, off Fifth Street. DPS principals will be on site to interview candidates at the event.

Recent changes in the State Teachers Retirement System of Ohio resulted in unprecedented high numbers of teacher retirements over the last three years, contributing to state and local teacher shortages. Dayton Public Schools and district HR personnel are reaching out to find high-quality candidates to fill high-need areas, including math, science and English language arts positions.

Recent graduates and other teacher candidates are asked to bring a resume and portfolio. Available positions include middle school math, science, language arts and social studies; high school science and math (physics, chemistry, geometry and algebra); and intervention specialists.

Those interested in receiving more information can call DPS Department of Human Resources at (937) 542-3126.
