  • WDANZ on the air and ready to dance

The Stivers School for the Arts dance department is turning Centennial Hall into a radio station Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday Nov. 6. The evening of dance and music begins each night at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the school.

  • Coffee with the Superintendent Nov. 7

Superintendent Lori Ward wants to hear from the community. She will host Coffee with the Superintendent from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church Family Life Center, 1501 W. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Keep up with district events and talk with the superintendent and board members. Enjoy coffee and conversation, learn what’s new, and share your thoughts with district leaders.   • Helping DPS families budget for college

The Dayton Education Council will help families budget for college at its meeting Monday, Nov. 9. The session will be held at Thurgood Marshall STEM High School, 4447 Hoover Ave. It is open to all DPS families.   • Eighth grader to sing National Anthem

Dayton Boys Prep Academy eighth-grader Chaz Amos will take center stage at the University of Dayton Women’s Basketball game Friday, Nov. 13. Chaz was selected to sing the National Anthem during halftime. The women’s team is hosting School Day, in which area students take a field trip to UD Arena that centers on mathematics. The Flyers will play the Yale University Bulldogs. Tipoff is at 11 a.m. For more information, contact Principal Horace Lovelace at 542-5340.

  • Ponitz dental students smiling after state exam

Seven students in the Ponitz Career Technology Center’s Dental Assisting program recently passed the Ohio Dental Assistant State Exam. They are now ready for job shadowing or employment in a dental office. The state exam consists of three components, including a written test, a hands-on demonstration of their skills and a radiology section where the students must properly expose two radiographs. The next state test is slated for spring 2016. For more information about the program, contact Principal Ray Caruthers at 542-7580.
